The common High Court for the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states on Tuesday issued a notice to the Speaker of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly S Madhusudhana Chary to reveal how much time he would need to respond on the disqualification petitions filed by the TDP and the Congress parties.
The court directed the Advocate General (AG) to get the information from the Speaker in this regard, and adjourned the case to the next week.
It may be recalled that several Congress and TDP MLAs joined the TRS last year. Both the TDP and the Congress parties filed petitions asking the Speaker to disqualify these MLAs who had shifted their loyalties. The TDP and the Congress parties approached the High Court as the Speaker was not taking a decision.
