The Telangana High Court today permitted the founder president of the YSR Telangana Party Y S Sharmila to go ahead with her ongoing padayatra.
The court however imposed certain conditions on the padayatra. It asked Sharmila to not make any political or communal comments against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, and to desist from making any provocative comments during her yatra.
It also asked Sharmila to make a fresh application to the police for obtaining permission for her padayatra.
The legal cell leader of the party Ravindranath Reddy had approached the HC urging it to grant permission for the padayatra. In his petition, he told the HC that the State police had not only arrested their party's founder president in Narsampet, but had also cancelled the permission granted to her to hold the padayatra. He also told the HC that the police had obstructed the padayatra causing a lot of pain to the party activists.
Earlier in the day, the Hyderabad police foiled a Chalo Pragathi Bhavan program of Sharmila, at the Panjagutta cross roads. Sharmila was going towards Pragathi Bhavan by herself driving a car. The police stopped Sharmila's car and asked her to call off her protest. However Sharmila declined to do so, prompting the police to arrest her. When Sharmila did not come out of her car, the police lifted her car along with her with the help of a crane and took her to the S R Nagar police station.
