High Court Dismisses PIL Against Municipal Elections

The High Court today dismissed the PIL filed by TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy challenging the election notification issued by the SEC on December 23.

In a relief to the State Election Commission (SEC), the High Court today dismissed the Public Interest Litigation filed by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy challenging the election notification issued by the SEC on December 23, 2019.

The notification was issued for the conduct of elections to municipalities and municipal corporations in the State.

Dealing with another petition, the High Court issued a notice to the State government and asked it to file a counter affidavit in four weeks.

The petition was filed challenging the constitutional validity of Rule 16 of the Telangana Municipalities Act, 2019, relating to reservations.
