Chief Minister K Rosaiah inaugurated the flyover connecting Kukatpally and Hi-Tech City, on Saturday.
The flyover, constructed at a cost of Rs. 23.84 crores, is expected to ease the movement of traffic on the route and minimise the travelling time, especially for IT professionals working in Gachchibowli and Madhapur.
The flyover is 480 metres long and 15 metres wide, with 49 solar-powered street lights. The solar lighting system is considered the first of its kind in India. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has reportedly taken care to see that if natural light is not bright enough to charge the batteries, the street lights would work on conventional electricity.
