Heritage Sites Must Be Protected By All: Nadendla Manohar
Nadendla Manohar congratulates AP Tourism and Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation for organizing the Hyderabad Heritage Marathon to create awareness on protecting heritage sites.
Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Sunday called upon the voluntary organizations to come forward to conduct Marathon Rallies to create awareness about protection of ancient heritage sites.
Participating as chief guest in the prize distribution programme for 'Hyderabad Heritage Marathon' winners at the Qutub Shahi Tombs, Nadendla Manohar congratulated AP Tourism and Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation for organizing the event to create awareness on protecting the heritage sites. Stating that it was not only the responsibility of government to protect the heritage sites, he said that it was the responsibility of each and every citizen to protect ancient historical sites.
More than 1000 people from various walks of life participated in the second edition of 'Hyderabad Heritage Marathon' that started at Chowmahalla Palace covering 42.195 kms such as Charminar, Mecca Masjid, High Court, Osmania Hospital, Mazamjahi Market, Public Gardens, Legislative Assembly, Ravindra Bharathi, Hussainsagar, Secretariat, Taramati Baradari and Golconda Fort. The marathon was held as part of World Tourism Week.
The organizers said that the marathon was aimed at creating awareness about distance running, fitness and the need to preserve and promote Hyderabad's rich heritage. (INN)
