The Meteorological Department today issued a warning that there might be heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated parts of Telangana, especially the erstwhile districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam.
Massive flooding and water-logging were likely to occur in the low-lying areas of the districts according to an official communication.
Reservoirs, tanks and streams may overflow causing inundation of low-lying areas, and low bridges and causeways to overflow, posing a threat to traffic and the people. Falling of trees and electric poles can also happen leading to disruption of normal activities.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao reviewed the matter with Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, and the latter directed all the SPs and district Collectors to be alert and watch the situation.
The Collectors have been requested to put their entire district administrations on alert and strictly follow the flood protocol communicated earlier.
All the officers were directed to available in the headquarters and take all necessary and possible measures to ensure least possible loss of life and property.
