Heavy Rains Lash Hyderabad, Low-lying Areas Inundated
The government announced a holiday for educational institutions under the GHMC limits.

Heavy rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad since 4 am this morning.
Several roads in the city were flooded due to incessant rains, and rain waters entered the low-lying areas. Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Yusufguda, Ameerpet, S R Nagar, Khairatabad, Basheerbagh, Abids, Nampally, Himayatnagar, Qutbullapur, Balanagar, Jeedimetla, Jagadgirigutta, Vanasthalipuram, L B Nagar, Pedda Amberpet and Abdullapurmet were among the areas of the city that received heavy rains.
Several parts of the city have been receiving moderate since Monday night itself, and low-lying areas were completely inundated. In some areas, the water reached knee-level and traffic movement became difficult. Motorists faced difficulties as rainwaters accumulated on the roads, and vehicles were stranded in many areas. Motorists especially in Malakpet faced severe difficulties due to heavy traffic jams.
The GHMC advised the citizens, especially those in in low-lying areas, to remain alert as there was a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains for the next few days. GHMC DRF teams have been rushed to the severely hit areas to take up relief operations.
Meanwhile, the government announced a holiday for educational institutions under the GHMC limits. The DEOs of Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts issued orders declaring holidays for schools and colleges due to the heavy rains.
