Heavy Rains Lash Hyderabad

Low-lying areas are inundated, reserviors are filling up, and it looks like it's all going to continue for a few more days.

Heavy rains lashed several parts of the city today.

Many parts of Amberpet, Golnaka, Kacheguda, Nallakunta, Langer Hauz, Golconda, Karwan, Mehdipatnam, Meerpet, B N Reddy Nagar, Vanasthalipuram, Dilsukhnagar, Koti and Abids have were inundated due to the heavy downpours. Some specific areas saw paricularly acute situations - for example, flood waters flowing from above the Moosarambagh bridge caused a lot of problems to vehicle drivers in the area.

Rains have been lashing the city for the last two days, leading to reserviors filling up. Authorities of the Osman Sagar even needed to open the crest gates of the dam and release the water to the downstream Musi river.

The met has warned that the state will continue to witness heavy rains for the next five days, and has asked the residents of the city to be on high alert.
