The Andhra Pradesh High Court, on Monday, adjourned the hearing on a petition filed against the ongoing APNGOs' (Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers) indefinite strike, to September 2.
The hearing was adjourned following the APNGOs' request seeking time till August 30 to file a counter petition.
The court also asked the state and central governments to explain their stand on the strike.
It may be mentioned that nearly 4 lakh employees affiliated with the Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers Association and other unions have been on an indefinite strike since the midnight of August 12, in protest against the proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to create Telangana.
Thanks to the strike, the administration in the entire state has come to a halt, especially in 13 districts of coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. The functioning of the state Secretariat, too, has been badly hit due to the strike. (INN)
