TRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao has slammed Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for delaying a file related to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Harish Rao said that the Centre has constituted a committee to work out the distribution of government employees between the 2 regions after bifurcation.
The state government was asked to nominate 2 persons as members of the Central Committee.
The Centre had sent the file to Chief Secretary Dr. P K Mohanty and the latter moved the file to the CM's Office.
Harish Rao alleged that the CM kept the file "in pending" for over 15 days.
He added that the Chief Minister, who speaks a lot about the Constitution, should not delay the constitutional processes.
With regard to the State Reorganisation Bill, Harish Rao said that the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly is not empowered to either return the Bill or conduct voting on it.
He said that except Jammu & Kashmir, no other Assembly in the country enjoys the powers to return a Central Bill.
He stated that the President of India had sent the Telangana Bill to the Assembly only for its views and therefore, "we aren't not empowered to violate the orders of the President". (INN)
