The state government has said that it would honour all the promises that it made with government employees to end the Sakala Janula Samme (the general strike for Telangana statehood).
This was stated by Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayans Reddy, after he held a meeting of a Cabinet sub-committee comprising Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimhan Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy and R&B Minister B Dharmana Prasad, at the state Secretariat on Tuesday.
Anam said that the Cabinet sub-committee would hold a meeting with senior officials, including Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, on 2 February to discuss the issue.
The minister said that the proposed meeting would have a 2-point agenda. Besides the problems being faced by employees of the Secretariat, it would also conduct discussions on the status of promises made to different employees' unions to end the general strike for Telangana.
Anam attributed the delay in fulfilling these promises to the change in ministers' portfolios, and to the transfer of officials. (INN)
