Bharatiya Janata Party state president G Kishen Reddy, on Friday, demanded that the state government fulfill the promises it made to the Telangana employees when trying to get the recent Sakala Janula Samme to end.
Talking to media persons at the Assembly media point, he criticised the government for not taking steps to honour these promises, despite several memoranda having been submitted.
He said that the government was not responding to the issue, and, instead, resorting to the harassment of employees who had participated in the strike.
Stating that the employees had lost Rs. 1,290 crore during the 42-day period of the strike, he appealed to the government to honour its promises and treat the period of strike as leave.
He warned that the employees would resort to another general strike if the government drags the issue further.
He also appealed to the government to honour the promise of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and set up a House Committee to look into the implementation of GO 610.
BJP Floor Leader E Lakshminarayana appealed to the government to withdraw all police cases pending against students who had participated in the statehood agitation. (INN)
