The Telugu Desam Party on Friday objected to the state government spending money on advertisements to mark the completion of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's one-year tenure.
Talking to reporters at NTR Trust Bhavan, TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy stated that the state government has been spending lavishly for advertisements on Rachabanda and also to mark one year of Kiran Kumar Reddy's tenure.
He said that hundreds of crores of rupees have been misused by Information & Public Relations Minister D K Aruna and other officials by giving the advertisement contract to just one company.
Quipping that the CM is confined merely to hoardings and advertisements, the TDP MLA said that governance in the state has failed completely.
He said the TDP would introduce a no-confidence motion against Kiran Kumar Reddy if the government fails to announce relief measures for drought-affected farmers. He said that nearly 6,000 farmers were forced to end their lives due to the government's failure.
Revanth Reddy also accused the CM of not having a grip on his own Cabinet ministers, who have been openly resenting his policies and schemes.
He asked the CM to explain how he would fulfil his oft-repeated claim of creating 15 lakh jobs in the state within 3 years. He also sought details of ration cards issued in the state as against the 32 lakh applications received in the first phase of the Rachabanda program.
The TDP demanded that the state government supply quality rice under the Re-1-a-kg scheme, and also take steps for containing skyrocketing prices of other essential commodities. (INN)
