Handlooms and Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao on Thursday stated that all assistance would be provided to the family members of Yadi Reddy, who committed suicide allegedly for the cause of Telangana in New Delhi last week.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Shankar Rao stated that an ex-gratia of Rs. 1 lakh has been sanctioned on behalf of the state government to the family members of Yadi Reddy, who hailed from Moinabad in Ranga Reddy district.
He said the government would offer a job to one of his family members in his department.
The Handlooms and Textiles Minister expressed confidence that the Centre would come up with a clear announcement on the Telangana issue by the end of October.
Speaking at the same press conference, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Ponguleti Sudhakar condemned what he called provocative speeches of Seemandhra leaders.
He opined that their remarks were unwarranted at a juncture when the Centre was going ahead with consultations to find a solution to the controversial issue.
Referring to
Baba Ramdev seeking the help of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu in his fight against corruption, Sudhakar wondered why the yoga guru sought Naidu's help, 'especially since the former chief minister was known for rampant corruption'.
He also asked the BJP to set right matters in Karnataka in order before making allegations against the Congress. (INN)
