BRS working president K T Rama Rao today announced that if his party returned to power, it would reclaim the 400 acres of "HCU land" in Kancha Gachibowli and transform it into a sprawling eco-park.
He framed the project as a gift to the HCU students and the Hyderabad residents.
Speaking to the media, KTR accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of treating the land as a commodity, and cautioned buyers that any investment made under Reddy's "biscuit-throwing tactics" would result in losses once the BRS regained power.
"We will reclaim every inch and build an extraordinary eco-park, like Central Park in Manhattan, for Hyderabad's future," he declared.
Addressing the ongoing HCU student protests, KTR praised their "extraordinary struggle" against alleged government encroachments, and compared their activism to the historic student movements at the Osmania, Kakatiya and Satavahana universities during the Telangana statehood agitation.
"On behalf of the BRS and Hyderabad's people, I salute their fighting spirit," he said.
He criticised the Congress government for ignoring the students' protests, and warned the government that if it did not reconsider its stance, the BRS would mobilise thousands for a mass march to the HCU.
"If they don't step back, we will march to the HCU with Hyderabad's people in full force," he said.
KTR called Chief Minister Revanth Reddy a "real estate broker" disguised as a leader.
"He claims to work 18 hours a day, but he should spend at least 10 minutes thinking like a father or grandfather about future generations instead of acting like a broker," he said.
He also accused the government of arrogance, alleging that Reddy and his ministers treated the public as "slaves under their feet" and suffered from a "strange mental disorder" of superiority.
The BRS leader also slammed Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for "dismissing concerns" about HCU's wildlife, mocking his claim that animal images were "AI-generated".
"By saying that there were no animals there, Bhatti has exposed his own artificial intelligence," KTR quipped.
KTR also accused the Congress government of exploiting court holidays to carry out destructive activities on the HCU campus, including felling trees and harming wildlife. "Why are they sending bulldozers on weekends? Does this government have no sense or shame despite the High Court and Supreme Court directives?" he asked.
In a direct attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, KTR recalled how the BRS had facilitated Gandhi's visits to the HCU during the protests over Rohith Vemula's death. "We escorted Rahul Gandhi to the HCU twice with government support. But today, the Congress government is dragging female students by their hair and brutally suppressing protests," he alleged.
Calling Gandhi a "missing leader" and a "political tourist", KTR challenged him to visit the university again and explain his party's actions. "Rahul spoke of a 'shop of love', but Telangana has become a house of hatred under his party's rule," he claimed.
Touting the BRS' environmental achievements, KTR said that under KCR's leadership Telangana had planted 270 crore saplings, increasing Hyderabad's green cover by 7.7%, as per the Forest Survey of India.
"We turned Hyderabad into a green city, earning national and international awards. Telangana became India's No 1 State in green cover growth," he said, citing reports from The Times Of India and the Central government.
He said that the Congress government was in contrast destroying Hyderabad's "only lung space" - the 400-acre Kancha Gachibowli land - solely for real estate gains.
"The peacocks and animals there are crying out as their homes are being destroyed," he said.
KTR said that the KCR had been discussing the HCU issue with party leaders and prominent Hyderabad citizens, and was planning a larger movement. He also said that BRS MPs Suresh Reddy and Vaddiraju Ravichandra had raised the issue in the Rajya Sabha, demanding Central intervention.
"This isn't just politics - it's a battle for Hyderabad's future. We stand legally and morally with the HCU students and environmentalists," KTR declared.
