Governor E S L Narasimhan expressed his displeasure over the "pathetic" conditions in Gandhi Hospital during a sudden inspection on Friday.
During his visit, the Governor inspected the out-patient and in-patient wards and Intensive Care Units. He expressed surprise over the lack of basic amenities in the general hospital, and shock over the "criminal negligence" of officials and staff towards the patients.
Stunned by the situation in the hospital, the Governor called Health Minister C Lakshma Reddy on the phone right from there and complained about the hopeless conditions in the place. He also warned the hospital employees not to be irresponsible and to discharge their duties diligently. He said that he would visit the hospital again soon.
The Governor left the hospital without talking to the media as the hospital authorities prevented them from entering the hospital during his visit.
