Union Minister of State for Steel, Beni Prasad Verma, on Thursday told the Rajya Sabha that the Andhra Pradesh government has rejected 2 applications for mining leases in the state filed by the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
The government had rejected the applications on the grounds that these 2 mining leases were granted to the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC).
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Verma said that in October 2006, October 2010 and November 2010, RINL has submitted applications for Prospecting License (PL) for 3 iron- ore reserves in the state.
The 3 mines are the Raidurg section of Obulapuram village in Anantapur district, the Bayyaram Reserve Forest and the Motlatimmapuram Reserve Forest of Kothagudem division in Khammam district, and the Guduru Reserve Forest of Warangal sub-division in Warangal district.
