Flood Victims Neglected: Naidu

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu slammed the government for being indifferent to the sufferings of flood victims.
Hyderabad | 3rd November 2010
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday charged the State government of being indifferent to the problems of the people in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema who had been reeling under heavy rains and floods.

Talking to media persons during his tour of Rangareddy, which entered the second day, Naidu accused the State government of failing to take up relief and rescue measures in the rain-hit districts. He charged the government that it had totally failed in attending the problems of the rain-ravaged victims.

Stating thousands of acres of agriculture lands have been submerged in flood waters, the TDP chief blamed the agriculture officials for not estimating the crop losses properly in the districts lashed by heavy rains during the past few days.

Naidu also charged the officials of not providing proper information to Central Commission to estimate the losses to properties and farm produce.

The former chief minister also accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of failing to honour his promise of releasing Rs. 1,000 crore as financial assistance to the State.

The TDP chief urged both the Central and the State governments to take up relief operations in the flood-affected districts immediately, and to minimize the sufferings of the people.
