According to GO Ms no. 413, MA and UD (J2), the Ministry Of Urban Development has instructed GHMC Commissioner Sameer Sharma to implement the order, and establish the integrated Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management facility in collaboration with Sri Venkateshwara Hydro Power Projects Ltd.
Following the issuance of the GO, the GHMC entered into an agreement with Sri Venkateshwara Hydro Power Projects Ltd. for the establishment of the 12 MW power plant based on Municipal Solid Waste. The plant will process, recycle and convert the MSW into power by removing hazardous and recyclable material after obtaining necessary permissions from Pollution Control Board.
The company has been expressly told to duly follow all applicable laws and amendments.
The GHMC will supply 700 tons of MSW per day free of cost to the power plant. The company will pay Rs. 25 per ton as royalty.
