GHMC To Continue Demolition Of Illegal Structures
It appealed to the citizens to report unauthorized structures by calling the GHMC 24x7 call centre 040-21111111, or by sending an e-mail to GHMC officials.
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar informed that the identification of encroachments on lakes had been completed, and the marking of Full Tank Level (FTL) was almost over.
He said that the GHMC was writing "Illegal" on the buildings which had been constructed without any permission.
The Commissioner said that the people had gained confidence that the government and the GHMC would demolish all unauthorized constructions and initiate action speedily without any partiality.
Responding to the queries of media persons, he said that the demolition process had not been stopped, and it was an ongoing function of the GHMC.
The town planning wing had other functions, such as issuing of building permissions, and that unauthorized constructions would shoot up if the building permissions are delayed, he said.
Somesh Kumar clarified that the GHMC had taken up demolitions in each and every circle without any favour, and said that it was following a sympathetic approach while demolishing unauthorized structures - such as, in the first phase buildings under construction would be demolished, in the second phase constructed buildings which were vacant would be demolished, and in the third phase the houses occupied by people that were blatantly violating the norms would be demolished.
The Commissioner appealed to the citizens of GHMC to complain about unauthorized structures by calling the GHMC 24x7 call centre 040-21111111, or by sending an e-mail to GHMC officials.
The GHMC was going ahead with demolitions very strategically by duly following the legal process after a thorough verification of the complaints received regarding unauthorized constructions, he said. (INN)
