The Standing Committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has approved the constitution of a local Biodiversity Management Committee.
The Standing Committee has selected S Ashok Kumar, Dr. Y N R Varma, Dr. Sulman Zafar Siddiqi, Dr. V C Gupta, Karamtot Tharabai and GM Ratna Kumari as the members of the Biodversity Management Committee.
The approval was given during the 18th meeting of the Standing Committee, chaired by Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain, held at the GHMC's headquarters at Tank Bund on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Mayor directed Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) director Manohar Babu to submit the summer action plan for core areas to the Standing Committee within a week's time with the coordination of Zonal Commissioners of the Central and South Zones.
Besides other decisions, the Standing Committee also approved the providing of chain-link fencing to Sanda Cheruvu in Saroornagar Mandal; the laying and remodeling of UGD (under ground drainage) pipelines in Abrar Nagar, Muslim Basthi and Hasmathpet in Old Bowenpally; the payment of land compensation to the owners of properties affected by the widening of a chemical nala in Kukatpally; and the renaming of a road from Chanchalguda to Malakpet as "Hazarath Syed Talib Khundmiri Road".
