The secrecy in announcing their candidates for the GHMC elections till the last minute by all political parties has created plenty of tension and heartburn among their leaders who did not get the tickets.
The ruling TRS announced its last tranche of candidates just before the time ended for the filing of nominations. The Congress and TDP too followed the same strategy of maintaining utmost secrecy, and announced their lists in the last minute. The candidates needed to race to file their nominations.
Among those who failed to get tickets, this caused considerable heartburn against their respective Parties' leaders.
Several spurned TRS leaders launched their protests by vocally asking the Party leadership how it could allocate tickets to those who had never participated in the Telangana movement.
They said that in return for remaining active with the Party since its inception, they had been rewarded this way while the Party allotted tickets to new-comers.
Many of these disappointed leaders invaded the roads, and some even alleged that the Party had sold out the tickets to those who were capable of purchasing them. Some other disgruntled leaders filed nominations as rebels.
In the Congress, none other than former MLAs D Sudheer Reddy, Laxma Reddy and Srisailam Goud shot off a letter to the Party High Command alleging that the State unit leaders had allocated tickets to those who had worked against the Party earlier. They warned TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy that they would not hesitate to resign from the primary membership of the Party.
Similarly, in the Telangana TDP, several leaders expressed disgust over the State Party chief giving tickets to those who had no cadre at all. Several leaders criticized the Party leadership which had promised to allot tickets to the youth but did not keep that word.
