Suspended Congress leader and staunch loyalist of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, Gattu Ramachandra Rao on Wednesday criticized the Congress Working Committee for not recalling the services of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in the All India Congress Committee (AICC) meeting held for the first time after his death.
Talking to media persons outside the assembly premises, Rao regretted that the AICC session had not paid tributes to the former chief minister, who had worked hard and led the Congress party to power in the State for 2 consecutive terms.
Rao stated that Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who had lavished praises on Rajasekhara Reddy for making the State a model in the country by implementing various welfare schemes and programs for the upliftment of poor and middle- class people, has completely forgotten the services of the leader.
Recalling that the State had sent 33 MPs to Centre, the suspended leader said that the UPA-II government was formed due to YSR's efforts.
Rao stated that a few members in the party High Command and the Pradesh Congress Committee have hatched a conspiracy to bury the political career of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. He refused to name the alleged conspirators.
The former Congress leader asked the High Command to act against the anti-Jagan group and utilize the services of the Kadapa MP in revamping the party in the State.
