In an appalling incident, bottles containing Intravenous Fluids (saline) in Gandhi Hospital were found contaminated with insects and insect larvae, seriously risking the life of a six-year old girl on Thursday.
The parents of the child noticed that her condition was only worsening after receiving IV fluids. Upon verifying, they detected an insect in the bottle and cautioned the authorities, blaming them for such gross negligence. The saline bottle was immediately withdrawn and replaced. The condition of the girl returned to normal soon after.
Pacifying the parents and the relatives of the child, Hospital Deputy Superintendent Dr. Masood assured them that he would take stern action against the responsible staff and doctors.
The doctor also said that the bottle would be sent for further examination in their laboratory, and a complaint would be lodge with the TSMDCC.
