Amidst speculations that the Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) was in a dilemma over going ahead with its proposed manufacturing unit in Telangana, its Chairman Young Liu today reiterated his company's commitment to set up a facility at Kongara Kalan park in Hyderabad, and said that the company was ready to start work on the unit as early as possible with the support of the State government.
On March 2, Young Liu had visited Hyderabad to inaugurate the T-Works facility in the State capital, and had later called on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
During the meeting, Liu announced that Foxconn would be setting up a manufacturing facility at Kongara Kalan park, and that it would provide upto one lakh jobs over a period of time. However, doubts arose when the team of Foxconn visited Karnataka to look at potential sites for investment there, a day after Liu met the Telangana CM.
After his return to Taiwan, Liu wrote a letter to KCR appreciating the efforts of the BRS government for the development of Telangana.
Thanking the CM for the hospitality extended, Liu said that he was inspired by the vision of KCR and by the latter's efforts towards "the transformation and development of Telangana".
"I now have a new friend in India, and I look forward to working with you in future," he had said.
The Foxconn Chairman also invited the Telangana CM to Taiwan as his personal guest, and said that it would be an honour to host KCR in Taipei.
However, a public communication by the group after it left India denying that it had entered into any "binding, definitive agreements" threw everyone into confusion.
