Former minister Uppunutala Purushottama Reddy passed away in Hyderabad on Saturday.
He was admitted to Apollo Hospital after he suffered a brain stroke on May 1. He was in coma since then, and passed away in the early hours of Saturday.
He is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters.
Uppunutala hailed from Addaguduru village of Motkuru mandal in Nalgonda district. He was elected from the Ramannapet Assembly segment twice, and was later inducted as a minister in the cabinets of Kasu Brahmananda Reddy and Jalagam Vengala Rao.
He was also an MLC, and had served as the chairman of the Telangana Development Board and the APIIC.
Uppuntala had recently joined the YSR Congress party.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy paid tributes to the departed leader, by visiting his residence at Jubilee Hills. (INN)
