Former minister and YSRCP leader Shobha Nagi Reddy died in a road accident here on Thursday.
Shobha was critically injured after her car overturned 4 times while she was returning from an election campaign in Kurnool on Wednesday night.
According to the police, the car driver appeared to have lost control while trying to take a turn, as paddy was laid out on the road.
The car suddenly stopped and overturned 4 times, and Shobha was thrown out of the car because of the pressure.
She sustained serious head and rib injuries. The car driver and 2 gunmen also suffered injuries in the accident.
After being taken to a hospital in Kurnool, Shobha Reddy was rushed to Care Hospitals in Hyderabad, where she breathed her last at 11:05am on Thursday.
Shobha was supposed to contest the upcoming elections on a YSRCP ticket from Allagadda.
She was the daughter of former minister S V Subba Reddy, and got married to politician Bhuma Nagi Reddy in 1986.
Born on November 16, 1968, in Allagadda, Shobha entered politics in 1996. She began her career as a Telugu Desam Party, and later joined Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party.
After PRP's merger with the Congress, she joined the YSRCP and was made the official spokesperson.
She was the first woman Chairman to head the APSRTC. (INN)
