Former Karnataka Governor V S Rama Devi died in Bengaluru, today, of old age. She was 79.

Born in Chebrolu of West Godavari district, Rama Devi went on to become the first woman Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in 1990.

She was also a member of the Law Commission. She wrote some novels and essays in Telugu.

Rama Devi was Governor of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. (INN)
