The first session of the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh began in Hyderabad on Thursday with the oath-taking ceremony of the new members including Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
Earlier in the morning, Governor E S L Narasimhan administered oath to senior legislator P Narayana Swamy as the Protem Speaker. Later, Swamy administered the oath to new members of the Legislative Assembly.
The oath-taking ceremony began with Chandrababu Naidu who took oath in Telugu in the name of God. He was followed by YSRCP floor leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Later, Deputy Chief Ministers K E Krishna Murthy and N Chinarajappa took the oath, followed by other cabinet ministers and then women members.
Probably for the first time, Chandrababu Naidu shook hands with Jagan, after entering the Assembly Hall.
The Andhra Pradesh Assembly session will continue till June 24. The elections for the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker will be held on Friday, while Governor E S L Narasimhan will address the House on June 21. (INN)
