Face Of North Telangana Altered By Kaleshwaram: Harish Rao
The region which once used to witness a drought-like situation with vast swathes of barren lands was now a green carpet of paddy fields, the minister claimed.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project had changed the face of north Telangana.
The region which once used to witness a drought-like situation with vast swathes of barren lands was now a green carpet of paddy fields, Rao claimed.
Speaking at a program after inaugurating a panchayat building, a mahila bhavan and free double bedroom houses at Ramunipatla village of Chinna Koduru mandal in Siddipet district on Monday, Rao said that with the completion of the Kaleshwaram project, Telangana had witnessed many changes, including availability of irrigation water, increased ground water levels, a variety of crops, and continuous greenery with plenty of flora and fauna.
He added that the Rythu Bandhu scheme being offered to about 60,000 farmers in the State had also contributed to an enormous increase in the cultivation of paddyin the State.
The availability of irrigation water and increased cultivation area had also led to a huge demand for farm labourers, Rao said.
"People from other States are now coming to Telangana and are engaged in agricultural work. Telangana is now not only giving a livelihood to its own people, it is also providing employment to the people of other States," he claimed.
