KCR said that the yagam was being conducted as he had achieved his goal of statehood for Telangana with the blessings of goddess Chandi matha.
The farmhouse of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Erravalli in the Medak district is being spruced up for the "Ayuta Chandi Yagam" being conducted by him from December 23 to 27.
The stage is being set for the yagam, and the final touches are being given.
Speaking to the media, KCR said that the yagam was being conducted as he had achieved his goal of statehood for Telangana with the blessings of goddess Chandi matha. During the Chandi yagam in Sringeri in 2011, he had vowed to the goddess Chandi to perform the yagam if Telangana got statehood.
All the people were welcome to witness the yagam, he announced. The yagam was aimed at world peace, the well-being of all living creatures, and the prosperity of Telangana.
KCR said that he would be the second person to perform such a yagam. He said that such a yagam had been performed only once so far, under the supervision of the Sringeri Peetham. Though it was said that the Ayuta Chandi Yagam was performed during the period of the Kakatiya kings, there was no evidence, he said.
He said that everyone including himself needed to follow the directions of the rithwiks and the organizers. He would need to observe three days of fasting as part of the yagam.
He informed that 400 quintals of ghee would be used in the yagam, and that the ghee was being sent by a friend from Gujarat.
The five-day long yagam will be performed by a team of six seers of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham as per its traditions, and it will cost Rs 6-7 crores. KCR said that 1,500 rithviks from various States would perform the yagam by chanting mantras in unison, and will be accompanied and supported by many priests and seers. Only people with deeksha clothes would be allowed to enter the yagasala as the Kanchi seers follow strict norms.
"We have sent 40,000 invitations. President Pranab Mukherjee, the Governors of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka, AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Union ministers including Venkaiah Naidu, State cabinet ministers, political leaders, businessmen and industrialists will attend the Yagam. There will be parking for about 20,000 vehicles. Vermillion, turmeric and Chandi prasadam will be distributed on the occasion, and women can perform ritual Archana on the premises," he said.
