Counseling for engineering aspirant students began on Sunday, with the verification of certificates at 61 helpline centres set up across the state.
According to sources, the certificates of students from special categories like Physically Handicapped, NCC, Children of Armed Personnel, and Sports, would be verified on Sunday and Monday.
The verification of certificates of general category students would begin on August 31. The optional subjects of candidates would be verified from September 2.
Students this year have to sign a form after verification of certificates that they have checked documents, and that information was entered properly.
Officials clarified that one-third of the seats in each category will be reserved for women while the remaining two-thirds will be available for both boys and girls.
While allotting seats, merit (rank), category, gender and local area will be considered. The allotment process will read the options exercised by a candidate in order of preference at each stage. A candidate can select any number of options. All relevant GOs are to be followed in allocation of left-over seats and consequential vacancies.
GO No. 550, that directs filling open category vacancies with students of the same category, will be followed strictly, and software has been designed suitably.
