Congress MLC and Sub-ordinate Legislative Committee chairman Paladugu Venkata Rao, on Tuesday, alleged that the engineering colleges in the state had thrown rules and regulations to winds regarding education standards and were playing with the lives of thousands of students.
Talking to media persons at CLP Office, Venkata Rao alleged that 60% of engineering colleges in the state were not maintaining education standards and infrastructure facilities prescribed by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
If the colleges did not initiate measures for improving facilities and faculty standards, the Legislative Committee would take stern steps against those colleges, Rao warned.
Criticizing the college management's attitude of minting money without providing proper facilities and faculty for upcoming engineering students, Venkata Rao said that the colleges should at least focus on students' career as they were the builders of the nation.
Rao called upon the National Students Union Of India, an affiliated students wing of Indian National Congress, to conduct regular vigil and inspections of the engineering institutions violating norms and fight for providing infrastructure facilities to the students in the colleges.
