Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy on Monday appealed to different employees' unions to end the strike that they have launched in protest against the Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh, to carve out a separate Telangana state.
Talking to reporters after the cabinet sub-committee held talks with the unions of teachers, RTC employees and electricity department employees, at the State Secretariat, Anam said that anti-social elements and people with vested interests are trying to exploit the situation arising out of the strike by the employees. He therefore appealed to the unions to call off their strike immediately.
Anam said, "People are being forced to face hardships in the festive season due to the strike by the employees of different unions, especially the electricity department and RTC."
He assured that the demands of employees on strike would be considered in consultation with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. (INN)
