The Election Commission today served notices on Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and IT Minister K T Rama Rao for allegedly violating the election code of conduct.
The EC sought an explanation from them in two days.
The Election Commission found fault with the Chief Minister for announcing sops for Khammam leaders and with KTR offering the TRS shawls to some leaders in the Secretariat recently.
The EC observed that announcement of any sops in the days preceding the MLC elections under the local bodies' quota was tantamount to violation of the code.
