The state government, on Monday, announced that it would declare the EAMCET 2012 marks and ranks on 30 June.
The government took this decision in a high-level meeting of officials of the education department, chaired by deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, at the state Secretariat.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Rajanarasimha said that the government would announce the EAMCET ranks and marks on the same day, on 30 June.
He said that the decision was taken to prevent the migration of students to engineering colleges of other states.
The deputy chief minister said that the dates for counselling, too, would be announced on 30 June.
Controversy arose when the education department officials said that the government would announce EAMCET ranks in July, only after a revaluation of papers of senior Intermediate students who had attended the Advanced Supplementary Examinations. Before this, the government had stated that it would announce the EAMCET results by 17 June, after the Inter supplementary examination results are announced.
Now, about 5 lakh students opting for the engineering and medical streams are anxiously waiting to know their fate. (INN)
