The Hyderabad police arrested several students who were staging protests in several places across the city over the possible invalidation of EAMCET-2 results.
Several EAMCET-2 top rankers and their parents had gathered at the Secretariat in the morning to raise slogans against the EAMCET-2 paper leak and possible voidance of the results, and to request Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao not to annull the results and conduct any re-test as that would stress them out further. However, the police intervened and dispersed them.
While leaving the venue, the protestors expressed their disappointment over not being allowed into the Secretariat to discuss their woes with the government. From the Secretariat, the agitators marched towards Indira Park to continue their protest. However, the police arrested them at NTR Ghat and shifted them to the Gandhinagar police station.
Some student unions including NSUI and ABVP made an attempt to stage a dharna at the ministers' quarters, but the police averted it. They demanded that Deputy Chief Minister & Minister of Education Kadiam Srihari, and Health Minister Laxma Reddy resign from their posts on moral grounds. Tensions grew as the student unions and the police engaged in a heated exchange at the ministers' quarters. The members of the unions weren't allowed to protest anywhere, which led to them raising slogans against the TRS government.
