Congress Legislature Party Deputy Leader T Jeevan Reddy alleged that drugs were being sold in a pub owned by Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Reddy defended the tweet made by the AICC general secretary and in-charge of Telangana Congress affairs Digvijaya Singh, saying that there was nothing wrong in it, though he declined to name the close friends of Rao that Singh referred to.
Congratulating the SIT officials, Reddy said that the interrogation into the drugs case was progressing in the correct manner, and that the SIT was not targeting only the film industry. He said that there was no need to maintain secrecy in the case, and defended the media's role in the issue.
Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy too claimed that Hi-Life and Tonic pubs belonged to TRS leaders, and that the police didn't bother to investigate the goings on there though he had lodged a complaint with them in the past.
He alleged that the SIT was interrogating small fry instead of serving notices to the big sharks involved in the drugs mafia, and claimed that the TRS government had brought drugs case into the limelight only to sidetrack the Miyapur land scam.
He asked the state government why it was not addressing letters to the relevant central agencies on the drugs issue.
