Telangana People’s Front President Gaddar on Sunday cast doubts whether the Centre would resolve the Telangana statehood issue once the elections to Assemblies of 5 states are conducted.
Talking to media persons here, the popular Balladeer said that it was doubtful whether the Centre would take any concrete decision on the separate statehood demand since it has not shown any inclination to do so since the past many years.
Criticizing the Centre for its dillydallying attitude towards the Telangana issue, Gaddar stated that the Union Government was now linking the issue with the elections to the other state Assemblies.
The Balladeer said that the Telangana state formation was possible only with people’s agitations, and not by waiting for the Centre to act.
Gaddar also urged Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao reconsider his decision on the suspension of 3 TRS MLAs from the party. He said that the MLAs' denial that they had not resorted to cross-voting in the Legislative Council elections must be given some weightage.
"The suspended MLAs stated that they have not committed any mistake and voted as per the directions of the TRS chief," the TPF chief pointed out.
KCR must leave the punishment of the erring legislators to the people, he stated.
When asked to comment further, Gaddar said, "With the suspended MLAs claiming that they have not committed any mistake, I will react only after the TRS chief makes a clear statement on the issue."
