Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman M Kodandaram on Tuesday condemned the statement of some Seemandhra leaders, who had said that they feared an increase in Naxal violence after the formation of a separate Telangana.
Talking to reporters when the TPJAC's bus yatra reached Warangal, Kodandaram said that the Seemandhra leaders were wrongly trying to link Maoist violence to the Telangana issue. He said that Maoists' presence was not confined to the Telangana region.
"In view of a strong presence of Naxalites in the coastal Andhra region, will that area be merged with Tamil Nadu?" he sought to know.
Kodandaram also reiterated that Bayyaram mines belong to the Telangana region, and that the TDPJAC would oppose any move to transport iron ore to Visakha Steel Plant. (INN)
