Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President D Srinivas on Monday appealed to the leaders of all the political parties to refrain from obstructing the Rachabanda program.
Talking to media persons at the Gandhi Bhavan, the PCC chief asked the leaders not to link the program with Telangana statehood issue.
"This is a welfare program dedicated to the people of the state, and the government wants to address their issues through the Rachabanda. The government seeks to take the administration to the doorsteps of people," Srinivas pointed out.
The PCC chief questioned the protestors whether a separate state of Telangana would be created by obstructing the program.
Srinivas also condemned the attacks on the Telangana Congress leaders allegedly by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) activists in Sangareddy.
Reacting to the statement made by Sangareddy MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy that he would obstruct TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao from obstructing the Rachabanda in Sangareddy, the PCC chief said, "I have already told Jayaprakash Reddy not to resort to such steps."
When pointed out that many prominent leaders of the Congress party were themselves boycotting the program, he said that it was not good for a section of the Congress leaders to boycott the program, which was aimed to deliver the benefits of government schemes to the poor and backward people.
He said the program was aimed to provide infrastructure facilities and basic amenities to the people of the state, and that those leaders who did not want to participate in the programme need not attend it.
Srinivas further called upon all sections of the people to utilize the program to get its benefits and have their problems solved.
