Police recovered 6 detonators hidden on Izza road at Mahabubnagar a day after Information and Public Relations Minister D K Aruna received threat calls, warning her not to participate in the Rachabanda program in the district.
Aruna was scheduled to take the road on her way to participate in the prestigious program. Reacting to the news about the recovery of the detonators, Aruna stated that she would not cow down to threat calls.
Talking to media persons after participating in a Rachabanda program in the district, the minister said the threat calls were issued by some vested elements in order to spoil the government's welfare program.
Earlier, the minister had received a threat call at Peddakotthapalli in Kollapur mandal in the district. The caller had warned her that she would be targeted if she disregarded their demands that she should desist from participating in the Rachabanda being held in that district.
Following the call, the police had beefed up security and taken up searches in Mahabubnagar district.
Speaking to media persons about the recovery of the 6 detonators on Izza Road, Mahabubnagar Superintendent Of Police G Sudheer Babu said the detonators were not powerful enough to claim any life.
However, the SP said that the police was looking into all angles, including the possible involvement of Maoists in the planting of the detonators.
When asked if the police had beefed up its security following the minister's complaint, the SP said that that he had not received any formal complaint.
Sudheer Babu, however, said that 2 investigating teams had been set up to get to the bottom of the entire issue.
Earlier, the minister had faced protests in the district while participating in Rachabanda.
