Amid the Centre's drive for a cash-free India, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today launched the AP Purse mobile App on Tuesday.
During the launch, the Chief Minister said that 13 mobile banking and 10 mobile wallets were available in the "purse" and could be used to pay bills.
He also announced other initiatives to create awareness on electronic transactions. "The government is introducing "Marpu Nestam", trained persons who would promote digital-financial literacy among people. The government will pay incentives to them for training people in carrying out online transactions safely," he said.
Engineering students were a first choice as employees under Marpu Nestam. It would be a part-time job and would help them to earn while learning. The government would recognise the services of the colleges and their students for their service to society at the time of crisis, he said.
The AP CM also said a committee of Chief Ministers on digital payment systems and financial inclusion would meet in Mumbai on December 8. Problems being faced by people in the wake of demonetization, and alternative measures to mitigate the situation would be discussed there.
The TDP supremo also said that the State government promised that the crisis would soon end. Rs. 2,472 crores was already available with banks, and the State would get another Rs. 1,100 crores on Wednesday for this purpose.
