Congress MP S Rajaiah on Tuesday demanded that the state government declare Warangal district as drought-affected, and take steps towards farmers' welfare.
Talking to media persons at his residence, Rajaiah said that farmers in the district are in a fix since their crops have been withering due to the frequent power cuts.
"The farmers are in a pathetic condition as no one from the government came to their rescue or to redress their woes," he said.
Rajaiah hailed the employees who had agitated for Telangana statehood, stating that they have made their elected representatives active towards resolving the issue.
He said that people's representatives would take inspiration from the employees' strike, he and continue their efforts towards separate statehood, fulfilling the aspirations of the people in this region.
He slammed Telangana ministers for not responding when several MPs were arrested in connection with the Rail Roko agitation.
Rajaiah also announced that all elected representatives in the region would observe 1 November, the State Formation Day, as 'Betrayal Day' and boycott the celebrations by hoisting black flags. (INN)
