The State government has decided to celebrate December 9 every year as "Telangana Talli Utsavam".

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi would be invited to unveil the statue of Telangana Talli at the Secretariat on December 9 this year.

December 9 is the birthday of Sonia Gandhi. In addition, on December 9, 2009, the first positive step towards the formation of a separate Telangana State came in the form of a statement read out by then union Home Minister P Chidambaram on behalf of the Government of India.

Keeping these two significant things in mind, the Chief Minister has decided to organise a Telangana Talli Utsavam on December 9 every year.
