In a surprise twist, Greater Hyderabad Congress Chief Danam Nagender made it clear that he would not leave the Congress under any circumstances.
Speaking to the media after a meeting with the Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir at the Council premises on Monday, Danam said that it was true that the TRS leaders had asked him to join their Party. At the same time, some Congress leaders had created conditions for him to leave the Party, he alleged.
However, he said that there was no truth in the reports that he was joining TRS leaving the Congress. He requested the media not to embarrass him by frequently asking him whether he would change his Party.
It may be recalled that rumors had been doing the rounds that Danam would join the TRS in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday.
Danam vowed to strive to strengthen the Congress in Telangana. He said that he was pained at the attempts to reduce the limits of the Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee. The Greater Hyderabad Congress cadre backed him, and they were ready to sacrifice their lives for his sake, he said.
He added that he would have a meeting with the Greater Hyderabad Congress leaders at Shabbir Ali's residence on Tuesday at 11 am.
Speaking on this occasion, Shabbir Ali alleged that the TRS was playing mind games and alleged that it was trying to run the government with hired leaders. That was not good for Telangana, and people would not like the TRS government if it wanted to buy leaders and run the government, he opined.
He said that the Congress was under an eclipse now, but would soon regain its strength.
