Cyclone Vardah Strengthens Off AP Coast
AP received a warning from the Meteorological department as Vardah picks up momentum and is expected to hit Krishna and Guntur anytime soon.

The Andhra Pradesh government today received a high-level warning from the Meteorological department on the impending Cyclone Vardah, which reportedly is strengthening at the Eye 900 km East of the coast of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and rapidly approaching Nellore at a speed of 50-60 km/hr.
Addressing the report about the increasing momentum of the cyclone, the State government issued a warning to fishermen and farmers, and the revenue and agricultural departments, as these are the groups and entities that will be affected the most, as the report. The government issued an advisory to fishermen against venturing out into the ocean. It also directed farmers to stockpile their harvest of existing crops.
The State government reportedly is extending special services including cyclone shelters in the Coastal districts.
The AP Police, too, has plunged into action with the help of the fishing and farming communities and set up control rooms and rescue teams that will operate round the clock for the next several days.
Four districts including Krishna and Guntur are expected to receive heavy rains in the next few hours.
