Though people have heaved a sigh of relief as rains subsided in the areas affected by the cyclonic storm Jal in East Godavari district, flood waters are yet to recede completely from many low-lying areas.
According to district officials, the flood water will take some more time to recede from affected parts, as the condition of sea is still rough, creating a backwater effect.
Meanwhile, daily labourers and others in affected villages resumed to work.
Complaints are pouring in from many parts, accusing officials of failing to supply food grains and drinking water. However, officials stated that badly-damaged roads and snapped electric poles have hampered relief operations.
Health officials have warned people in flood-ravaged areas to use boiled water to prevent water-borne diseases.
Meanwhile District Collector M Ravi Chandra directed officials to distribute 20 kg rice and 5 litres of kerosene to each affected family in flood-hit areas.
He also directed the agriculture officials to estimate the crop loss in the district.
