One of the offenders has been to jail 20 times, and the other, 4 times.
The Cyberabad Police on Wednesday arrested two notorious habitual offenders who were allegedly involved in 23 cases of of day-cum-night burglaries.
Addressing a press conference, Cyberabad Commissioner Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said that the Cyberabad's Central Crime Station officials had recovered nearly one kilo of gold ornaments and 3.74 kilos of silver ornaments, one Dell laptop, two digital cameras and two motorbikes from the accused.
Disclosing the details, the Commissioner spoke about one of the accused, Sheelamshetty Venkata Ramana, a notorious offender committing offences for the past 20 yrs. He has been to jail 20 times so far. Sheelamshetty is a dossier criminal of Satyanarayanapuram PS of Vijayawada.
Earlier, in the year 2011, he was arrested by the Kushaiguda police, and underwent a jail term for over one and half years, and was released from Cherlapally jail in the month of July 2012. After his release, he committed 12 burglaries, including five in Cyberabad, four in Mahabubnagar and three in Kurnool.
Sheelamshetty was apprehended by the CCS Saroornagar police, and stolen property, including 83 tulas of gold ornaments and 2.20 kilos of silver articles, were recovered from him.
The second accused, Manigandla Vijay Kumar alias Chinna, is a notorious offender committing offences since 2010. He was sent to jail four times.
Recently, he was arrested by the Jeedimetla police in burglary cases, and sent to jail and released on February 9 this year.
After his release, he, along with his two associates, committed 8 burglaries, and also stole two motorcycles, in the Cyberabad Commissionerate, and committed one burglary in Sadasivapeta PS limits of Medak district.
He was caught by the CCS Malkajgiri police, and stolen property, including about 13 tulas of gold ornaments, 1.54 kilos of silver articles, one Dell laptop, two digital cameras and two motor cycles were recovered from him.
Tirumala Rao praised the work done by the inspectors of CCS Saroornagar and Malkajgiri, along with their crime teams. He said that catching these two offenders had led to the detection of 23 cases in all. (INN)
