Cyberabad Commissioner of Police V C Sajjanar today slammed the BJP leaders in the city, including MLA T Raja Singh, for constantly making baseless allegations against DGP Mahender Reddy and the Telangana police.
Speaking at a press meet, he specifically lashed out at Singh, saying that it had become a habit of the latter to level allegations against the police.
Singh often claimed completely wrongly that the police was kowtowing to the TRS-led state government, and that was entirely unfounded, Sajjanar said.
"BJP leaders like MLA T Raja Singh are constantly making unnecessary allegations against the police. If they continue to do this, we will be forced to initiate legal proceedings against them," he added.
When asked about the rising menace of illegal instant-loan apps, Sajjanar said that the police had already brought the issue to the notice of the RBI after receiving several complaints from citizens who had been cheated by such apps.
He also said that the police was working on apprehending any individuals involved in such scams.
"We are working to catch the people responsible for running fraudulent loan apps, and have already identified two such companies in Raidurgam. We have also caught six people who were involved in the scam. The offenders had recruited 110 tele-callers to attract customers. We have recovered Rs 1.52 crore in cash, 22 laptops and 18 bank accounts from the companies. The police will keep working to bust such scamming rackets," the CP added.
